Pimp My Web!! (Beta)
Have you been wondering about the tabs that appeared recently on my banner at the top--especially the peculiar "Pimp My Web" tab? Well, wonder no more, because the Pimp My Web section of this blog is now functional, at least in Beta, anyway. (We've wondered at Union Square Ventures why anyone would ever remove the "Beta" tag from a product. Why would you ever say anything is done? There's always room for improvement. Shouldn't you always be working on something to make it better and soliciting audience feedback?)
The point of Pimp My Web is simple. I'll be posting screencasts here on how to get the most out of your online experience... mostly for more novice users. It will be the kind of site you e-mail to your mom to show her how to set up del.icio.us or maybe to view yourself before you set up del.icio.us on your girlfriend's computer and make her think you're smarter than you really are. Starting a new blog? Send folks here so they can learn how to use your RSS feed in Lesson One.
These screencasts are just a start. Two other things I use are the universal IM client, Trillian, and Linkedin. Got other suggestions for future screencasts? How about podcasting? Drop a comment and let me know what every webhead needs to know at a minimum.

Can you set up another RSS feed specifically for the Pimp My Web screencasts so I can quickly notice when a new one has been put up?

That's an awesome idea! I think it would be a great idea if you did one on how to make the most out of your blogging experience - like how to utilize the blogs and use it to your own advantage.
You probably want to make sure you have the links up and running before you go off and blog about it. Since the link is broken, who are the people writing about it above?
That was very informative, now I know two more cool-kid terms! RSS = Disable Images, and Delicious = Favorites. Thank Gord someone finally invented another way to waste time in the name of efficiency.
your videos are not accessable on a mac. it says they were compressed with an unknown codec.
Great project! Will look through them all and comment them at some point.

Thanks for all the tips. One question...do you know an easy way to add a tagcloud to a typepad blog? I like the one that Fred has and tried adding it to our Delight blog but am stumped.
Any ideas?

A few thoughts:
- How to set up a blog (via Typepad or Moveable Type, perhaps also wordpress or blogger) - focus on how to set up a basic, functional template
- Flickr - and intergrating it into above blog
- Amazon.com affliate (and adding to blog)
- Google adsense - possibly, suggestions for how to incorporate into a blog
- Advanced topic - how to use a tool like Moveable Type to manage more than "just" a blog (see my conference website for MeshForum - http://www.meshforum.org for an example of this, though we can always continue to improve
- Getting the most out of other useful online tools, for example, Basecamp
